New Family For Mexico Building

A while back we shared about the family we would be building a house for in Mexico.  We have learned that when you're planning a trip to Mexico, you have to be flexible with plans.  This is really true of just about any cross cultural missions trip.

Well, plans have changed.

Apparently the family that we were supposed to build for decided to leave in the middle of the night.  They have most likely moved on to another migrant camp.  But there is definitely no shortage of need in Mexico.  We now have another family ready for us to build for them.  This one is a husband in wife with 3 kids.  Here are a few pictures of the kids and their current living siuation:

We had our first Mexico team meeting this past Sunday for our trip.  It included getting to know each other a little better, learning some Spanish worship songs, talking about what to expect, preparing memory verses for VBS, and praying over the trip as a team.

This is going to be an incredible life changing experience.  If you aren't going, but you want to, there are a few spots that have opened up, but we need to know ASAP!!
Here we go!

Youth Convention

We're heading into UNCHARTED waters by taking our students to the district youth convention November 14-15.  It's not uncharted because we've never been, but because we're going to move into untreaded ground in our relationships with God and with one another. The cost is only $50. I'm giving everyone this low rate because I am so looking forward to connecting with our students on a deeper level than can be done in a couple of hours.

If you haven't confirmed your spot with me make sure to do so by this Friday October 31! feel free to call the office with any questions and to check out the website for speakers and bands.  All students should receive a letter with more specific details this week.

 One80_02

As many of you many have seen in the bulletin the last couple of Sundays, ONE80 is back in full force for all our students in grades 6-12. We started our first series last week called "Postures" and are asking the question "How do I 'stand' before God?"  Together, we'll discover that we can come to God naked, prostrate, hands raised and together as we connect with him intimately, connect with one another in community and influence our word intentionally.

I think what I have been most amazed with is the caliber of amazing leaders that are already in place  just two weeks after my being here.  It shows that CLC has already been doing an amazing job attracting and raising up followers of Jesus that are mature and ready to share the gifts God has given them.  Our student are going to make some awesome relationships and dig deep into who God is and what he has for them because of our leaders. - Brandon

This past week Pam and Bill Claraty have been working hard with a few volunteers to get everything ready, including this 16 foot tall pumpkin entrance to let everyone on Mission Street know what's coming!

It's gonna be an fun night of playing, partying, and blessing the community.  If you're able to help us out, there are 3 ways you can do that!

  1. Invite.  Know any families that might be looking for a place to spend a couple of hours on Halloween night?  Invite em to come on down...everything's free!!  (Even food.)
  2. Volunteer.  We still need all sorts of volunteers to help setup, teardown, greet families, and more.  We especially need some people who can decorate their trunks, dress up, and be there to hand out candy to kids for trunk or treating.  If you're available, email Julie.
  3. Pray.  Just pray for us as we pull this off and for all the families that come and the neighborhood around us that they have a great time!

So who all is coming out to have a good time with us?
